If your fuel has been stored for anything longer than a few months without usage, there is a danger of contamination.  Stored fuel will deteriorate over time and the fuel suppliers only guarantee their products for SIX MONTHS when in bulk storage.

How does fuel become contaminated..?

Since middle distillate fuel, including modern low sulphur versions, are inherently unstable, the formation of tank sludge and degradation is inevitable in time. Also if water is allowed to collect in the tank through condensation then bacterial contamination is likely to occur.

Having diesel tanks independently pre-cleaned can prevent all of these problems.

Recently Grey Fuel Marine was appointed to carry out fuel cleaning and and tank replacement for the ESB substation in the Cork area.

This job will be the largest under taken by Grey FM todate and will involve the following -
